Work in planning sector ranges from major metropolitan masterplans in large cities, through plans for brownfield and greenfield sites of all sizes, to urban design frameworks for market towns and declining district centres. Over the past 25 years Atkins produced hundreds of masterplans – with over 500 in China alone.

Atkins offers 3-year Graduate Programme in various sectors - management consultancy, transportation, Faithful+Gould and infrastructure among them.
For planning students Atkins offers two schemes:
Transport Planning Graduate Scheme
or
Throughout the programme, you'll be provided with personal mentor and development support through internal placements. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills through workshops and formal training, secondment opportunities and professional review and via collaborating on real projects for a range of clients. Profession-specific schemes will help you gain chartered status.
minimum criteria
Criteria will differ depending on the position you're applying for. Minimum criteria for all candidates is:
- you have obtained or are on track to achieve a bachelor’s (2.1 or above) or masters (2.2 or above) in a variety of degree disciplines such as: Transport Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Economics or GIS.
