Be Part of the First Edition of MPLAN Magazine

  • 2 min read

We are excited to announce a call for submissions for the very first edition of MPLAN Magazine, a new Bartlett School of Planning student- and alumni-led publication.

MPLAN is a space for ideas, reflections, critiques, sketches, and conversations about planning in all its forms.

We are inviting students and alumni from all Bartlett School of Planning programmes to contribute a 500–1000 word piece on any planning issue, question, or project that matters to you.

This is an opportunity to share your voice, showcase your work, and contribute to a collective exploration of the themes shaping planning today.

What Can You Submit?

We welcome a wide range of formats and perspectives, including:

  • Reflections on what matters now in planning

  • Ongoing or completed projects you would like to share

  • Letters to mayors, professors, current students, or alumni

  • Creative responses such as “Address a Building”: sketch it, imagine it, critique it, or propose a solution

  • Notes, unfinished sketches, fieldwork observations, and emerging ideas

  • Essays, critiques, reviews, or commentaries on spaces and places

Sketches and photographs are very welcome alongside written pieces.

MPLAN is intended as a platform for experimentation as much as scholarship. Whether your contribution is analytical, creative, critical, or personal, we are looking for work that reflects the breadth and diversity of thinking within the Bartlett planning community.

Why Contribute?

This first edition marks the beginning of what we hope will become a lasting platform for dialogue across cohorts and generations of planners. By contributing, you will be part of building a shared archive of ideas, one that connects students, alumni, and the wider planning community.

The magazine will be published in both print and digital formats, giving contributors the opportunity to see their work in a professionally produced publication.
